I cannot decide between these combinations:

Bogen Manfrotto 3021 PRO Tripod Legs with 808RC4 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head with RC-4 Quick Release

Bogen/Manfrotto 3021BPRO Tripod Legs with 488RC2 Midi Ballhead

Bogen / Manfrotto 3021Pro Tripod with 322RC2 Grip Action Ballhead

I don't know what type of head would be the best. I am leaning towards the 322RC2. But I am also considering the 488RC4 plus the 3021BPRO.

I want to make sure that I can use my 350D + Battery Grip + 70-200 f/4 + 1.4 teleconverter.

Thank you!

I've used both the RC2 and RC4 versions of the Bogen ball heads (currently use the 488RC4. Whatever head you buy, I highly recommend the RC4, version, even though the camera plate is significantly larger. It's a much more secure, stable plate.
I used to be a 3-way head kind a guy, but the 488 has won be over. I rarely use the 3030 pan/tilt head that I own.

I have the 3021 with a 488RC2. I use my 70-200 2.8 on it and also my 300mm F4. I use my 1.4 x and 2x with both lenses. The 300 isn't too bad but the 70-200 with converters gets prety heavy. I wish I would've went with RC4. I would also reccommend going with the RC4.

I really like the idea of a grip action head but because of the weight, I think you are right about needing the rc4.

Any other heads I should consider?

The Acra-tech heads are supposed to be pretty good.

If you decide on a 3-way head, check out //www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=Search&A=details&Q=&sku=353327&is=REG&addedTroughType=search

Note that you mentioned two different sets of legs in your post, the difference is one is black (3021Bpro) the other is chrome. I think the price is the same, just be sure to order the one you want.

I have this head and love it!
Magic Ball

Quick, responsive and smooth. Expensive but worth every penny. dollar.

I think I am going to go for 488RC4 and the 3021BPRO.

I want to make sure I have enough support for the weight.

They are just in my price range...some of the other suggestions are way out there for me right now.

Thanks for the input!

I have that same tripod but with the 3265 grip action ballhead and I love it. I know the 322 head is rated a bit better, but I liked the feel of the joystick better.
