Anyone have any other good content management systems they would recommend? Something similar to pixelpost?

Gallery2 is an excellent and open source.
Its a lot more complex and feature rich than pixelpost (essentially a full fledged gallery content management system).
I'd definitely give it a whirl. If you want to see it in action, I have an instance of it set up on my server which I use to host random pictures:
