Well, oddly enough it seems I'll be in Motion Panning, with a picture that I really quite like that will MAYBE get to 5.3 in this challenge. I'll be hoping for good comments. I've decided that I prefer to have scores off - permanently. I can always find out after the challenge ends. |

I's in motion panning. I think it's a cute little pic and it's panned and the background's blurred, but you don't get a sense of speed out of it, so let's see which of us gets closest to that 5.3...

Mmm Hmm....
I see no hands....8>)

Oooh! A race to 5.3! I think that's an appropriately sucky goal.
I'm hoping one of my current entries is... Oh, wait. The one still open was closer to 5.0 than 5.3... never mind. |

Basic editing sucks - a competition for the closest to 4.3 in motion panning?

I'll bet my motion panning shot could go below 4. That's why I'm not entering it. |

Sometimes you can be surprised - I expected a sub-5 score. |

I still feel it when I hear the song.
It's about how a guy reacted when he learned he might be dying. Here's the chorus:
I went sky diving
I went Rocky Mountain climbing
I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named fumanchu
and I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter
and I gave forgiveness I'd been denying
and he said someday I hope you get the chance
to live like you were dying.
Those two songs, and the sayings you quoted, sum up my approach to life. |
Hey, I just stole all those thoughts from people I read......and adopted the spirit of them because of my own trials in lfe.
I've been through some serious Hell in my days, but the way I look at it is that because I've seen so much bad, I have so much more appreciation for all of the good and beautiful things in life. And a lot of them are really in the ability to see them when they're right in front of you. Like most of the things I see in the portfolios of you guys. Yeah, there are some technical issues here and there, but because of what *I* can see in life, I can see what you see when you show me your work. And I think that's why Team Suck will never be score driven and will always have such a warm atmosphere....there are real world people here that *do* capture a little piece of their heart when they click the shutter.....well, most of the time, anyway!.....8>)
I know that there is more than one person here that knows how amused I am that I got a ribbon. You know what the best part of that whole thing was? That for the first time, I set my camera, took a RAW pic, processed it, and submitted it all by my little ol' self!
And I got a freakin' RIBBON?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Here's a f'rinstance on my appreciation and index of grace:
I look at this beautiful creature who is my daughter and I know each and every day that there is a God in *my* life who loves me. She is truly one of the most decent human beings I know and I make a conscious effort to be as compassionate as she is by nature. And she's twelve...

You missed my point.....when you read the comments on my B&W entry, then you'll see what I mean!

When you see the 54 comments I've gotten so far and their wide range, you'll laugh so hard that you'll forget any nastiness you got!
Listen up, Team!
I am asking for some serious support. I still have *ZERO* comments from anyone on Team Suck (unless any y'all do the paper bag thing) and I really want OOB thinking and people I know to critique this shot BASED ON CRITERIA FIRST.....then the technicals.
Will you do that for me?
PLEASE?????
I will post a thumb as soon as the challenge closes so you can look at it. You'll have to open it and examine it closely to see what all the fuss is about.

I'll comment on your b&w Jeb, but not till tomorrow. I certainly won't be up at midnight. LOL. Maybe you could return the favor too.

Remember NikonJeb that your punishment for momentary loss of suckage, as we call it, is to comment on everyone else's photos... there is a price to be paid for ribboning here at Team Suck :-)
Okay, just got a photo into match. Total last minute, but I actually am pleased with the result. Which may mean brown for me, as there aren't any animals in the photo :-) |

This will be the first challenge in a long time that I won't have an entry. I just couldn't come up with any decent ideas for Match or Battle of the Sexes. I really suck at the idea thing. I did take a motion panning shot but it is soooooooooo bad that I'm not sure it would hit 4. OK, maybe 4.0001.
Hopefuly there will be some good challenges tomorrow.
I just bought a book on PS tonight so now I have some serious reading to do. Aww sh*t, that means I have to use my mind and I lost that a while back. See, thats what happens when you get past 50. You loose your mind. |

Ok fellow suckers, and you too nikonjeb, I just had to say that after that ribbon.
Here is a picture of Saginaw. This is the kind of processing that I like doing but voters dispise. What is your take on it?

Bob, I really like the processing you did. And it is so nice to see more of my home state.

Ok, I'm in motion panning. Don't know how it will go over, but I'll be satisfied if it stays above 5.
Meanwhile, I thought I'd share one of life's less pleasant events that involved my 6-year-old daughter, pictured here in happy times a month ago:
On Saturday, she lost control after riding her bike down a steep hill. She's okay, with no serious injuries (we always wear our helmets), but she did learn what "road rash" means:
As of the next morning, she was back to being her usual rambunctious, stubborn, loving, high-spirited self. She was a little nervous about going to school today (we had yesterday off in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.), but her teacher and she both said it went okay.
I'm putting this in my Workshop instead of the public portfolio because I'd rather it didn't escape into the wild and I don't want people thinking I do anything wrong to my kids. But among friends, I figured I'd share a bit of what's on our minds.

Oh, Jeff!
Man, I *hate* when something happens to Eleanor!!!!
That must have been awful.....I'm glad she's okay.
Isn't it wonderful how they bounce back?
Give her an extra kiss for no apparent reason....it'll make you hurt less.....always works for me.....8>)
