Hey, I never got to do that when I joined.

Here's mine. As you can tell, I spent a long time on this one.

I̢۪m a photographer wanna-be
But my good images are nothing but luck
That is why I joined this team
Because I know I suck

Many friends I have met
And some of them suck like me
No ribbons yet for our famous team
But many six̢۪s are there to see

Sucking is a way of life
I love it through and through
And if it weren̢۪t for the people that suck
No one would appreciate the blue

One of these days the time will come
When a sucker surprises them all
A front page shot we will see
And it certainly won̢۪t be small

Go Team Suck

Has anyone ever cleaned their sensor themselves?

If so, what did you use and was it difficult?

I cleaned my 300D sensor. Used a sensor brush, like a normal artist brush, but untreated. The way I do it is, hold brush in left hand pointing up. Spray compressed air from can at brush from about 9-12 inches, brush doen't pick up any moisture. This gives the brush a negative charge. Lightly move across the sensor. Remove brush, spray again, this gives brush positive charge and dust drops off. Repeat again to finish sensor. Don't do one sweep of sensor and then do another without discharging brush, as all you will do is move the dust.

Hope that makes sense??

Hello Suckers!

I am still around, what with moving house and decorating been rather a quiet end to the year. Then, it was a grey miserable Xmas holiday (weatherwise), so I have struggled to enter much. Now, in process of changing camera, but will be back to my worst very soon.

Any idea who is the suckiest sucker in Team Suck? Who holds the title of most consistent sucker?

I always heard not to use compressed air cans on sensors, as the propellents used can leave residue traces that become almost impossible to remove.

Personally I've never actually cleaned the sensor, I have only used an air blower to shift stuff. It seems to have worked so far.

I understand your concern, but you don't spray directly on or near the sensor, you spray the brush which is well away from the camera. Also, you make sure that the gap between brush and can is about 9-12 inches. The idea is not to put anything on the brush, but to charge it. Think of it as creating static on the brush to clean the sensor, then anti-static to deposit the dust well away from camera or lens. The compressed air aimed at the sensor will do irrepairable damage due to the liquids contained within.

VisibleDust or other companies do the kits, but it possible to get it much cheaper by shopping round.

I've used it a couple of times when I had the 300D, very easy and quick. First time was a bit nerve wracking tho!! Never needed to do the 30D. Hopefully this Pentax won't cause too much trouble either.

Any excuse!! Just look at yer name! All joking aside, I sympathise with you, been there with the pain in the back. You don't want kidney stones, but they would explain the pain. No-one can believe the pain either, it is incredibly 'painful'...how else to describe it.

Two years ago I was diagnosed with kidney cancer, the pain for the months leading up to my op was beyond belief. I was so relieved to have the kidney removed and I am well and fighting fit now.

Don't want to scare you, kidney stones are a lot more common and quite easily disposed of, although this isn't a lot of comfort to you at the moment. The examinations can be a bit daunting tho...have you been thru that yet?? Best of luck and a speedy recovery.

There are now 62 entries in the battle of sexes challenge, of which the last is mine. I could make top 100 with this :)

As for sensor cleaning, if you can't track down the sensor and send it out of town bedecked by tar and feathers (think maybe that's what happened to mine) then you have an expensive bells+whistles option such as I use(d): visibledust, no less.

I painstakingly followed the instructions a)for the brush and b) for the camera.

It worked, I'm happy to report.

Sodoff's plan looks like a good way to exploit the same technology at McGyver prices.

Suck is a philosophy of life. And your essay or poem is forthcoming?

As a new member of the crew I have been absolutely amazed at how amiable, level.....well, to a point, decent, and helpful this crew is to everybody.

I've already learned a couple more tips and techniques that are very important and useful to me and the general sunny atmosphere of people who are here to have fun first is just awesome.

THERE!!!!

Take THAT, Suckers!.............8>)

Love ya! (GIANT collective hug!)
