Here is one result of the comparison I did with my new 30D.

One thing on the 30D... it uses the same color settings as the 5D, and the default is quite contrasty and tends to oversaturate reds. Setting the camera to "Neutral" or "Faithful" will eliminate the hyper-red situation. The 10D behaved more conservatively with respect to default color and contrast, and that's a big part of the difference in color/contrast you're seeing.

This is very good to know. Thanks!

I think I prefer the contrast in the reds :)

I think Kirbic is referring to the fact that your in camera settings are different which is why you see a difference.

Your 30D image is definietly hotter in the reds (more reds). I have found this to be true of my 30D as well.

Several options...you can customize a picture style via saturation, contrast and tone - adjusting the tone 1 to the right and the saturation down 1 (to the left) helps a lot.

I shoot mostly portraits and shoot in portrait mode (adjusted as above). I have sharpness at 4 as well, so i don't have to sharpen for prints - one less step. I do shoot RAW and use DPP for conversion - ACR can have a negative impact on color accuracy so I'm told and have seen.

I found faithful to probably have the best color, but is sooooo flat in contrast and sharpness I really don't like the results. I like standard for many things, but at times it's too hot and contrasty.

The neat thing is you have these options, just like when you had film - pick the one you prefer for the type of shooting you do or do most often. Shoot RAW and you can change your mind later - or make your 10D files match the 30D! (in DPP anyway)
