To jump back to Cindi's original post, I think you've got a great setup there and taken some outstanding shots with it. I know the feeling all too well of having all that gear. I wish we had as much room as you though...could do with a an extra metre or two in either direction! As you mentioned, it's a fair investment but it's value is priceless!

Space is my biggest issue as well, Neil. My space is 20' X 21' and 8 1/2' high. In a perfect world I would have 30' X 30' X 10 -- maybe the next house. :)

Cindi, are you running the AB400's at full power most of the time or are you getting enough out of them to crank them down? What kind of apertures are you using?

I love Cindi's setup, but just remember that good things can be done with small single strobes too.

LOL, yeah... I do most of my work with a Lightsphere II :-) I must say that it is getting a bit boring though.
I'm seriously looking at strobe kits. Just gotta figure out where the money is gonna come from.
What size strobes are those Steve?

I don't have any studio space. I use anything arround like walls, curtains, a table or even the floor.
Almost of the time I use this light setup in my photos:
- 1 STE2 Speedlite Transmitter
- 2 Speedlite 580EX
- 1 Speedlite 430EX
- 1 Reflector (42")
- 1 Umbrella (32")
- 1 small softbox
- 1 Snot
- Color gels
- 2 small stands
Everything fits in a small bag :))))
2 Exemples with this light setup

my studio story...
One of my friends says "doug, I have some studio lights, want them?" they end up being this.
One of my clients says "doug, if you sign a retainer with us you can have an office and a photo studio right here"
The lights have been HUGE for my stock photo sales BTW - and my photo career in general. I have no problem telling a client that I can shoot something for them now - I'm sad the studio's not in my garage anymore in a way - but it is 30 degrees out and the garage is a tad chilly. |

I know it's been shown before in another thread but this is our little studio. Consists of 2 Bowens Gemini Esprit lights, 2 cheap slave flashes for the backdrop, Kast backdrop stand and 5 in 1 reflector, 5 different rolls of backdrop paper, Polaris light meter and various bits of crap!

Good luck Rex!!! We're doing a bathroom remodel now... and wiring repairs... and a new fence outside.... and remodeling the entry foyer and main hallway... I hope to start on my studio soon (will be a remodeled outbuilding... my garage is my workshop).
I have a vendor display for my maternity and newborn photography tomorrow night at the Early Pregnancy Awareness seminar provided by our local hospital.
What kind of Bees did you get? |

I'm not sure (likely not) that the Rebel XTi has a PC connector, so you would need a Hotshoe to PC adapter. |
It doesn't, but AB sells them.
