Anyone care to take a punt on a Tripod?

It has to be light weight enough for hiking (but I'm big and ugly so no need to be too light) and sturdy enough for the odd studio session.

save it until you get some more, maybe set your heart on some quality glass and save up till you get enough.. You've got plenty of options, so any combination of the below is worth considering:

- telephoto lens, like the 70-300 mentioned earlier here
- tripod
- decent flashgun
- larger memory card

Depends on what kinda thing you're going to be shooting (landscapes, portraits, indoor/studio, etc)...
