Nikkor 50 f/1.8D or Nikon SB-600 Flash. Prices might be higher in the UK...

Looks good....cheers.
Anyone care to take a punt on a Tripod?
It has to be light weight enough for hiking (but I'm big and ugly so no need to be too light) and sturdy enough for the odd studio session.
Merry Christmas!

save it until you get some more, maybe set your heart on some quality glass and save up till you get enough.. I have £100 frm various relatives as gifts, add that to my shutterstock money, plus my birthday in around 20 days, should be touching enough to get my 17-40mm F4 L as long as I buy it from these guysOnestop_Digital

You've got plenty of options, so any combination of the below is worth considering:
- telephoto lens, like the 70-300 mentioned earlier here
- tripod
- decent flashgun
- larger memory card
Depends on what kinda thing you're going to be shooting (landscapes, portraits, indoor/studio, etc)...

My current favs are Landscapes and some studio 'type' portaits, so I think that although I will get a telephoto lens (I'm thinking Birthday in 6 months time) either a standard or wide prime lens or a decent tripod is the way to go.
