Was ist Kriekenbier? Hat das was mit Weihnachten zu tun?

What *doesn't* cherry flavoured beer have to do with Christmas?

The direct translation with no thought to German grammar gave it away eh? ;)

I did take 2 years of German in high-school.. but that was 15 years ago.

I'd love to *actually* learn the language again, but it would mean moving to germany and surrounding myself with it.. probably not going to happen.. sadly.

That might have been it...

Those online translators always go for a literal translation which wrecks the grammar, and German has a lot of funny grammar rules.

If you want a bit of "immersion therapy", you could always try Paltalk.
They have (amongst oodles of other rooms) a number of German speaking rooms you could visit.

Gives you a chance to listen to others who are speaking on mic, reading the chat text at the same time, and participating if you feel like it.

There is no point to learning a language if you don't have an opportunity to speak it every now and then, you will just forget it. Though with online chat sites like the one Beetle suggested you're not limited to haveing to find someone close to speak with.

It's not always right , I've learned italian to able to read italian books and I rarely have the opportunity to speak english ( but every day I read something in english ), french is my first language and I speak spanish .
I know the meaning of many words even if I don't know how to pronounce them . You don't need to associate a word to a sound , it's better to associate it to the idea.
