The boss's office can be harsh. In fact, this morning went something like this:

I wonder sometimes. Is it normal in the workplace to take & give shit, get all hostile, then laugh about it?

I hate working in place like that. Normal? No. Prevalent? Yeah. I much prefer a group of people able to keep it on an even keel. |

It's easy to create a harsh environment.
Hey, just anounce free givaways of x-box 3's at a department store over your battery powered loudspeaker.
Tell you wife you wrecked the car.
Go to the zoo, creatures live in extreme environments and so do mountain climbers.
Here there is a prison between Cleveland and Columbus, OH.
That abandoned prison is actually booked for several weddings.
I suppose they're harsh couples, too.

Not too much harsh environment in the UK's Temperate climate.. but I suppose a harsh environment is subjective... e.g. A photogaraph of a wide open space would relate to harsh to an Agoraphobia sufferer?
Good luck all.... and happy holidays...

My "harsh environment" is not a landscape or a streetscape or a building-scape :). I'm expecting many desert/icy tundra landscapes in this challenge. Mine is more about living space than Environmental...may be a bit subtle, but we'll see. I learned a HUGE amount in taking this shot and for that I am feeling so grateful for this opportunity - and also proud of myself. I had to climb out of my BOX to get the capture. Not sure that the final product shows too much "expert editing", but I love it because this marks the beginning of a new era for me... Can't wait to see the others.

I stepped out of my comfort zone for this challenge. It was a great learning experience and I think my end product came out strong. A different experiment for me for sure. C'mon Friday!

Perhaps a cat in the microwave?
Please don't take that seriously. I'm not a big fan of cats, but woudld never hurt one and they aren't tasty at all. |
Im personally modeling mine after the not so famous book "pop goes the hampster and other fun microwave games" lol, sorry thats kinda grose lol |

Damn it! The weather is the reason why I can´t enter this challenge, there was of course no way I had time before christmas to take a photo for this challenge and I was going to do so on the 26th, 27th or today and those three days the weather has been absolute s**t so I am going to have to miss this one.
Please keep them coming though D&L as I love this "expert editing" challenge rules concept and I can´t wait for a third opportunity to try it out as I could always use some work on my post processing skills. |

Sounds like you have a harsh environment all around you. Go for it anyway. :-)
You can now consider it a "speed challenge". :-O

I have gone ahead and jumped the gun, deciding to enter the challenge. I am no expert, and I am sure the scores will reflect that, but I am sooooooo excited about my image. Thanks dp for throwing in the expert editing. It gives us so much more freedom, and the images entered are awesome. Heres to all who enter - Good luck, and let the voting begin (in another 4 hours.) |

Far from an expert, probably will get trampled on, but entered a shot. Just to see...not sure, and not because I lack the talent, about the expert rules. Kind of detracts from the intention of the site a bit IMO. I mean there are plenty of sites that showcase editing skills and this has always been a photography based site. But figured I can't form an opinion unless I have done it. So here goes... |

I can't wait to see which one is yours after the week is done. Agreed, there are sites that show editing skills, but dp is doing a decent job with the various challenges. I don't imagine expert editing will become a regular fixture, but an occasional one is nice. Perhaps 6 a year, or maybe 8, but not more than that. I guess we will see how it all shakes out in the new year.Originally posted by Alienyst: Far from an expert, probably will get trampled on, but entered a shot.
