What is the best way to photograph lights (as in Xmas lights) at night? I have a point and shoot, so I didnt know if you can do that with them. Any advice?

Use a tripod and the timer - both will ensure you get good focus without camera shake. Your camera is perfectly capable of taking xmas light photos.

Edited to add some more words of wisdom:

- Experiment with your exposure time and aperture for different effects.
- If you want to include a person in the shot, use your night time setting. It uses flash to illuminate the person in the foreground, but then keeps the shutter open for a while after the flash so you get the darker background in, as well.

So basically the only reason you get fuzzy lights is because the camera is not stable enough?

Yes, camera shake is almost certainly the reason for fuzzy night time photos.

Use a small aperture for sparkle, large aperture for glow.
