Anyone have any suggestions on dealing with the kind of eyeglasses that darken automatically when outside? My husband's glasses get really dark. I took some a few shots of his face without the glasses to have some good eyes to paste with later. Any other ideas for shooting outside portraits of subjest with that type of eyewear?
Thanks,
Judy |

Most people with photgreys still have a backup pair that is transparent; ask them to bring those. These stoopid lenses are the bane of photographers, lemme tell you...

Books I've read on soing Portraits for people who wear glasses is to use a pair of frames without lenses.
I have Transitions, but I have the lighter of the two, so I tend to not have this issue personally. The issue I have to deal with is flash/light glare off the lense. To combat this I never look directly at the camera. I always have my head at an angle to the flash.

The pro-tip for keeping the glare off glasses is to have the person raise the arms of the glasses up off their ears just a bit, not enough to notice, but enough to put the glass at an angle to the face - I've tried this, works well.

Well, hubby doesn't. He's had some type of tinting for as long as I can remember. He just got a new pair of glasses, so I may ask him to take the lenses out of the old ones next time I take photos (which will probably be in - oh, say another decade!) I've never tried a self-family portrait, but managed a few usable shots today. My family wan't particularly cooperative (except hubby, who has learned in 26 years that there are few things I really push for, and today was one of those things.) |

I used to own a pair and they drove me craze too. They'd never get dark enough while driving (I guess 'cause the windshield blocked some of the UV light) and they never lightened enough if I went into a room with florescent lights. Expensive mistake!
