Hello once again with a non-photog question.

I am in the market for an RC boat. Battery powered price range from $60 to $150.

We live on a small lake. My question is this....when these boats run low on power, do they give you a warning so that you can bring them to shore? Or do they just die out in the water at which point you have to paddle out to get them?

Paddling out is no prob in the summer but around Christmas time, you don't really want to have to get in a small boat to get the boat!

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I'm no help, but if you live ON the lake, just take the houseboat out on the lake. *grin*

The few I've seen don't give you a battery warning. I don't know if you get wind there or not, but remote sailboats are a ton of fun. The batteries last a long time because they only control the rudder and sail. The wind does the rest.

If the motorized ones are anything like remote controlled cars, they start to slow down as the batteries start to die. When the boat starts to slow down, I would be heading into port.

I was wondering the same thing. The one we just bought is low-end price range and the battery power (6V)is estimated at only 25 minutes depending on how it's operated. So...I figure about 10 minutes top and you'd better be bringing it back to shore. It says in the manual that when the battery becomes weak, the watercraft may not necessarily stop commpletely. However, watercraft may exhibit slow response, slow speed or erratic behavior.

I may be taking mine back due to impulse buying exhibited by desperate late shopper. lol
