It's Fall and the leaves are pretty much gone for many of us. Winter is quickly approaching and is so dreary. Everything looks dead and depressing without any green. I'm wondering what you shoot (not animals :-P ) during the winter months. Point me to your best winter/snow scene. I need something to get me motivated again. Thanks!

Very different where I live Butterfly.
We have very little in the way of seasons, it just goes from mildly hot to stinking bloody hot!
We don;t get fall, as it were, and it is something I really miss, having grown up in temperate climes.
As for snow ..... what's that? Most people here have never seen the stuff. It's a shame, as I have some amazing hills alreagy picked out for the taboggan when it does snow!!!! I checked my diary and the last time it snowed here was, hmmm, what's today, yes, Sunday, yes, on a tuesday .... about 60 million years or so ago (or whenever the last ice age was, as I can;t be bothered to look that up ;) |

I love winter. The cold temps make for clear air. Snow covered ground gives a unique background and lighting.
Here's one of mine from last winter.

Good call Simon (Natator)!
When reading your post, I thought you must live in QLD! I'm on the Sunshine Coast, and agree about the little variation between seasons... it's as if we skipped Spring all together this year, and went from Winter (warm) to Summer (hot).
I think it would be cool to experience a white Christmas sometime... although it is fun going to the beach on Christmas day! |

Heya Bendb
Well, there's 4 of us at least here from Brissy that I know of, and doubtless some others.
Interesting I've found, by accident, both other people I know of today, and the world being the tiny place it is found I know the other person in real life from another place entirely year ago *laugh*
I miss the snow :(
But we have the sun and the surf :)

I think the last Ice Age was more like 10-12 thousand years ago, during the times of humans, not dinosaurs.
If they'd been just a LITTLE more experimental, they could have taken pictures, although I doubt a live mammoth would have stood still for the process. |

*sigh*
Yes, those mammoths make such awkward subjects. Teaching them to sit takes years ;) *laugh* |

Thanks you guys. Great shots. I guess I just need to open my eyes more to see possible photos.
natator: I'm sure I would miss it if Winter didn't come. I do love the snow, though - just not being cold all of the time.
I would kill to visit Australia. Ever since I can remember I've wanted to go. (I'm not too excited about the venomous spiders and snakes, though ;-) )
coolhar: Beautiful shot. I saved it to my favorites. Really nice job.
rll07: Your images are very nice, too. I love 'Daniel's Landing'. It almost looks like a painting. Dixie is a precious pooch. What a cute shot of her. :-)
bendb: Many times during the Winter I wish I were at the beach...but, on Christmas ya need snow! :-) I spent one Christmas in Texas and it just wasn't right. We had an awesome storm here last Christmas and it was perfect!
magentic9999: Super stuff as always! I love the 'Mountain Fence' shot. You could take a picture of trash and make it beautiful. I'm so jealous.

Winter, ugh. We have a lot of snow herer. Actually, it snowed here on Tuesday and Thursday. It finally melted today with a warm rain.
Last year, I hardly took any winter sceneries. Winter is when my Still Life mode kicks in. Actually, I already see it in my entries as of late. I should try to get some winter shots in this year, but I know I'd rather keep my camera indoors. I got a little guy to keep me busy this winter and I'm sure I'll take lots of pictures of him.
