Hahaha ... both of those photos were taken in Washington : ) |
Actually I went through ALL 45 in your DPCPrint Gallery. hehe Good stuff. Thanks for the info.
I'll end my hijacking of this thread on The Joys of the Walmart Photo Center by saying, "I MPIX." ;) Just got my FedEx delivery of photos ordered Wed at Midnight and I never had to leave the house. |

What is the price tag with MPIX and how long does it take from the time it leaves your pc until your doorbell rings?

| When you get to the counter to pick up your wal-mart photos, just distract them by saying "LOOK THERE IS A WII!!" and when they run over there to gab it off the shelf, go behind the counter and get your photos. |

I ordered Christmas 50 Christmas cards on Sunday night for $35 (incl. shipping) and got them delivered on Tuesday.
Supposedly things are slower right now because of Christmas but I can't complain. |

Like I said before I was quite disappointed with Wal-Mart but after reading this forum I decided I would try them again. I got 2 dozen 4x6's and one 8x10. Let me just say I was VERY pleased with the results. If they continue to give that quality I will defineitely be getting more from them.
Their printers must have just been "out of tune" last time

Were these photos printed at their kiosk (self-service) or on their big photo-printing machine?

Our family boycots WalMart since they are a large part of turning the US into a third world country. If I can keep my money in country, I prefer to do so even if it is more costly.
I use a local MotoPhoto franchise for my prints. I worked there for years in college and know they do great work.

Others have said it, but I'll say it too, MPIX ROCKS!
I ordered 240 folded greetings cards (10 separate designs x 24) on Wednesday afternoon, overnight Fedex ($9.95) and they arrived at 11.00 am yesterday morning. The quality is great. The cost of the cards approx $1 per card. Can't beat them in my opinion.

from my experiences, Wal-Mart ups the contrast and saturation a TON! Sometimes that's just fine, but if I've set the saturation myself, and the color is already saturated, then it gets way oversaturated with Wal-Mart...
But ofcourse it seems it's different in different Wal-Marts... |

Sounds good, but I would have to drive over an hour to do that. Or get really bad looking prints. . .
The joys of living rural.

I must say, the Walmarts here aren't terribly fond of the nudes :-)

Back many, many- oh so many- years ago. When I worked for Wal-Mart they were just getting into the 1 hour photo. We had a guy that worked in the photo lab that would print "extras" of any nudes that came through for his personal collection. It was about six months before he got caught and fired for it- by then he probably had 3 or 4 hundred in his collection.

Because before it can be delivered, it has to be uploaded. Ever try to upload 300 4x6s on slowasmolasses.net dialup? (And before someone suggests broadband, dsl, satellite, cable, etc 3 of the 4 aren't available here and the satellite people won't talk to us . . .)
For prints larger than 8x10, or for small orders, I go with dpcprints or adorama. |
