For those of you complaining about pics not meeting the challenge, allow me to encourage you to think more broadly. Stores aren't the only place where things are for sale. And sometimes what's for sale isn't a tangible thing.

I know that DPC voters usually are very literal about the challenge interpretation, but in this case I've been surprised at how little commenters have been willing to step even 1 mm outside the box of "it must be a store or obviously something for sale or it's DNMC."

Is this good or bad? at least I will be in top 100 for sure now...hehe... I am glad not to see tacky landscapes, sunsets and flowers in this challenge, anyway. Is this why many of you say it is not a good challenge? It would be terrible. i hope u only reffered to the actual quality of the shots. U might b right then. Otherwise... "WHAT?? NO SUNSET? NO BEAUTIFUL COLOURS??? oh...dissapointing challenge, indeed!!".

Just being sarcastic, dont take it too seriously...

no 7? You disapoint me ;( Throw in a picture of a flea market at sunset with light refracting wineglasses. Guarandarneed 7.

As a voter in this challenge, I'm not looking at whether or not this is in a store. I'm looking at if, when stripped of the challenge theme, it looks as if something is for sale, location notwithstanding. And frankly, there are several shots that look shoehorned in. If I have to say, "What's for sale here? It's just a picture of an ostrich wearing bowling shoes," then it's simply not going to get a high score from me.

I thought mine wasn't obvious, 'for sale' but the commentators have recieved it pretty well, to my suprise. I wonder if voters are as narrow minded as we sometimes give them credit for. I know I am, but what about the 'others'? ;)

Right. All I'm suggesting is that people broaden what's thought of as "something for sale" beyond what's typically thought of that way. I generally don't like photos to rest solely on the title to fit the theme, but if a title shows me another way to think of the challenge itself, I'm willing to reconsider my initial thinking about the shot.

Since it's notoriously difficult to convey tone in forum posts, let me be clear: my suggestion is a wry one, with a slight smile on my face, not a fist-pounding demand for people to fall into line.

Finally a good comment!..:) The first 3 were DNMC or "what is it?" thanks to eyeslander for your comment....This is a hard challenge for some to look out of the box. I still like my image even though the score is low. I have to shoot for myself.

5.68 to 5.50 in 12 hours.

That hurts a little.

Wanna trade? I went from 7 to 5.3 in 24 hours. Of course, that 7 was after one vote. :)

Been falling pretty steadily for the last two days but still holding on to a nice score.

34 comments, HOping for 50 but not sure if it is possible at this point. :)

Voted 100% and commented 22%. Some pretty dirty pictures and lots of good ones.

How do you follow 'Dirt' with 'Sticky' Ugggghhh! ;)

ETA:
