How is the fit on your 50f1.4? I just got one delivered and it seems like I need a spanner (wrench) to get it on the body - VERY stiff and not smooth at all.
Am I paranoid? Okay, that's given but should I be about the 50mm? |

| Mine's very smooth, fits like a glove. You may not be paranoid this time. |

Mine is also fairly smooth, stiff, but not overly so. If its quite difficult to fit, I would send it back. :(

| Have you inspected the mating surfaces to see if there is something in the way? Or maybe there was a small manufacturing defect on the lens. |

I bought one and had it for about 3 days. Mine fit like I needed a pipe wrench to put it on my 30D. I wasnt pleased with the 50 f1.4 and replaced it with an 851.8. I wouldnt have kept mine just for the fit but had other issues with it.
