I currently have a Canon 10 D setup. Lenses are
Tamron SP AF 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di for Canon
Tamron AF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 LD for Canon
Canon EF 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 II
Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II
I shoot just about everything so my uses for my equipment is very diverse.
Recently I got the bug and have been looking to upgrade from the 10D to the 30D. I have even considered going into the 5D. Here are my concerns and questions.
Is the upgrade from the 10D to the 30D very noticable in terms of quality of the photograph and camera responsiveness from your experience? How about the focusing system?
Would it be wiser to invest in some L glass now and keep the 10D and build my lens collection prior to upgrading my camera? I hear once you get some L glass it lasts forever if taken care of and makes quality images.
Is the next upgrade to the 30D going to be in a few months and if I choose to upgrade, should I just wait untill the 30D's upgrade or replacement model comes out. Even canons new xti has higher mp than the 30D at this point.
Any input on these issues I keep going over in my head? Just looking for others opinions.

You'll notice some difference in image quality going from 10D to 30D, but not an amazing difference. There will be a huge difference in responsiveness, and the AF will definitely be better (I shot with a 10D for two years).
You have at least two very good lenses, the Tamron 28-75 and the 50/1.8. The Canon 28-80 seems redundant. I have no real knowledge of the Tamron 70-300 so can't comment on it.
In the end, yes, you could wait and upgrade glass in the meantime, but a body upgrade at this point might be a good way to go too. |
