I'm quite impressed with the service department.

Our 4 yr-old dropped my wifes Canon Powershot A75 and messed the camera up in multiple ways (LCD wouldn't light up, Zoom wasn't working).

Sent it in to Canon and paid $87 total ($79 repair + $8 ship) to have it repaired.

Today, we rec'd a brand new (yes NEW) Canon Powershot A610 with a 128MB memory card. All new manuals, software, etc... Wow! Much nicer camera than what we sent in.

Our 12 yr-old will be impressed come Christmas, as this will be under the tree with her name on it. :D

Anyway, just wanted to share this story of GOOD customer service.

Take care.

Good luck. :D

BTW - Isn't error 99 related to the lens? Like the lens itself needs an update or something? I don't own a Canon DSLR, but I thought I had read that somewhere.

err99 is a catch all error - with basically no description of what it actually relates to.

1) change lenses
2) swap CF cards and format it with the camera if possible
3) switch batteries
4) power it up without a CF card
5) power it up w/o a lens attached

see if any of those things get rid of the error.

yeah, I tried all that. :( Still erroring. I called canon and they told me to just send it in. In the meanwhile, I bought a rebel XTi!! Thank God for credit cards! ha.

Go figure! I actually bought it a month or so ago...but $500 would have been a great deal.
