That's crazy. I didn't vote on that challenge, but the lighting is great and composition look great too. That should have been well higher than it scored. Nice shooting. |

I gave that a 4, why?
Because it was boring. The pose is not interesting, the background adds nothing, the light on the hair is slightly to harsh, nothing connecting to me as a viewer, no light in the eyes, no emotion. IMHO it is a rather average snapshot. I'll probably not make any friends this way (and I do not care), but it explains the score and placement.
Edit: And her looks had nothing to do with it.

Sorry, but the pose does absolutely nothing for me. It is not flattering, flirty, cute, mysterious--just a girl in an awkward position. The skin tone looks a little off on my monitor, and I am getting flak about the shadows in my death shot that are nowhere near as prominent as these. That's my opinion, for what little it is worth!
edit to add: I also gave it a 4.

I gave it a 5. I agree with the comments about the pose, it is not natural and not flattering. The lighting is, in a word, harsh; dark, rather sharp shadows that do, IMO detract. The score it received was not out of bounds by any means. |

I think you received a fair score.
I also don't think her weight had anything to do with it. Being more than a little on the heavy side myself, I truly appreciate pictures of heavier women that are well done. This one, however, is not as well done as many of the other shots I have seen you post.
Left you a comment on the shot as well |

Leroy, may I ask what appeals to you about this shot? |

I gave it a 6. +1 for dof/focus, +0 for lighting, +0 for composition, +0 for overall appeal. |

Well, I actually like the lighting, which was intentional and dramatized in PP. I also like the angular look of the pose and the fact she is a bit disconnected from the viewer.
I also think the model is quite lovely, but out of 3 shots I've entered of her all of them scored poorly.
And I still hold that if she had been a "modelish" model the same shot would have scored lower 6's. I've entered worse that has scored higher.

Dude, I dont do all that great in many many of the challanges and I can tell you that what is wrong. Not trying to be mean but this is not one of those steller shots. I usually like your shots and am suprised to see this was yours. The pose looks like you hit the shutter whie she was moving from one uncomfortable position to another, the expression is blank, the lighting is harsh and harsh shadows as a result. Just because she is as you implied 50lbs to heave does not mean you can't take an attractive photo of her, but this is not one. Good luck on future challanges, and please use her as a model again it would be nice to see you come back with a more stunning shot of her. |

Sorry, but no way. Try some better lighting than you can think 6's. |

I don't like the pose, lighting, the look of the model and her clothes or the black sagging eyes.
But i didn't vote on it.

The color is too cool (blue), the title is uncreative, the hair is messy, the clothing is not appealing, the joints are cut off, and the pose is boring. It really doesn't have anything to do with her weight or her looks. |

I'm not sure being thinner would have made a lot of difference. Her right hand just looks awkward to me, and I don't really like the angle of her head. I think the tank top and the pose do not work well together. |

I've looked at the other two, but didn't vote on them.
The one for diagonals: The thing that really bothers me about that one is the strange blob (probably a visual trick because of the way her hair falls there in combination with an uplifted arm) at the left of the frame underneath here face. It looks very out of place and very distracting and it totally ruins the shot for me. Would be a 5.
The one for Light on white: The way the face stands out from the white and the quality in that corner of the shot is great. However, the way her breasts/chest disappears into nothingness really puts me off. And I also dislike the way her arm is positioned. Another 5.

I didnt vote on this challenge... I probably would have given this a 5... only because of the awkward pose... now had it been a stunning MALE model in the same pose, well now... who knows! :oP

Agree, on the Light on white you had a near miss with a stunning shot, if it had been a little lower key as to not lose as much contrast and hlod a bit more detail. |
