Would everyone go out an buy a CRT monitor with a Trinitron tube and use the color profiles provided by Sony??

How can one get comments ranging from "it's too dark" to "looks overexposed"??

Ok, I'm done ranting.

That's what I use. Sony Trinitron Multiscan 210GS.

I'm using a Sony Multiscan 100 GS right now, and have used them for a long time. I can't really judge the color but the contrasts are fine -- I see all the steps on every gray scale I look at. They are stable and last a long time; they work with both Mac and PC.

I don't think I use any profiles or color settings except the hardware Brightness and Contrast controls.

I get to use a LaCie Electron Blue 22 at work, and it's great because it's so huge, but I don't think the picture's any better (might be a Trinitron tube -- I haven't checked).

I use a lg 19"
had a sony 17" and don't think theres much in it.
wouldn't go any other tubes tho.

I see every square of teh scale boxes (unlike on my sisters mitsubishi where you can't get it brightenough to show the dark, and at that the whites starting to lose the gap.

pretty much everyone has photoshop and should at least use gamma to calibrate. If you're really serious you should get a hardware one like spyder. It really isn't the monitor that you use but how you use it.

Why do you say "pretty much everyone has photoshop"? I would guess that less than half of dpc users have it.

Would not trade my NEC LCD 1765 17" flat panel monitor for anything. Absolutely fabulous color, clarity and resolution. Unlike other flat panels, this one has a completely glass front, so you get the footprint benefit of a flat panel with the picture quality of a CRT.

Check one out at your local computer store.
