We have a Japanese Black Pine in our front yard and I kept looking at the big full branches and saying to myself there has to be a way to photograph them in a pleasing way? I even did some shot once.
But the point is you just showed me how I could do and have it turn out great!

Thanks Calvus. Although the wind was blowing the branch and the light was low, that came out fairly decent. I mostly liked the idea of the shallow DOF on that 3D structure.
Really brings out the 3D-ness of it .. :)
