Today, I went to get images from a 1GB SanDisk I filled this morning, and while I see two folders, only the second one has images...and it's only the RAW and JPEG of the last shot I fit onto the card.
Yesterday, I had deleted all the images and formatted the card in the camera. I was using my Rebel XT.
Any ideas? Are the other images recoverable?
I've never had a problem with my CF cards before.

Also on a side note ZAR can take a while to find all the images. Also it may not get 100% of them. Last time I used it I had some unreadable and unrecoverable images. Something like 10 out of 250 or so. It has several options on where to put your recovered images and I believe it changes the file names like 001 002 003 ect ect. |

Thanks for the link.
Ummm...while watching ZAR scan the card, I told my wife about the problem, and she asked if I was sure I hadn't switched CF cards during the shoot this morning...which ended up being the solution to my problem. Heh, heh... :-\
Duh, I had forgotten that I had filled one card and put in a new one just before finishing with shooting. Oy, how (human) memory can fail us...(well, me).
So...never mind...but thanks again, Charles (DustDevil).

LOL not a problem. Atleast you know where to get a decent free recovery program. ZAR does work after a format though. I think if you do 3-7 full formats they are gone. But I know it works after one. |

I formatted the card before shooting, but thanks for the ZAR tip, anyway.

In fact it works great because:
Im so anal rentitive i copy my files before doing rotations on jpegs
I rotated a file while it was on the card and ZAR recovered the original unrotated even after a format lol. |

Hey Charles, isn't it great being a stupid human!! I am a world expert on stupidity, being a fully qualified Village Idiot. Sounds like you could be my apprentice.
Seriously, we all do that sort of thing and then realise it only after exposing it to the whole world. That's how we live and learn this painful, yet great interest of photography.

Great Rainmotorsports, Glad it is working for you. Its a great little app. I think in order for it not to work you have to format 5-7 times or use a DoD shredding program. |
