Pentax Zoom Normal-Telephoto SMCP-DA 50-200mm f/4-5.6 ED Autofocus Lens for Digital SLR
Sigma Zoom Telephoto 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG Macro Autofocus Lens for Pentax AF
How would these two lens compare to each other?
Thought I read someplace that the pentax 50-200mm was equal to something like a ?-310mm in a 35mm film camera.
Is that how the specs are on the Sigma lens?
Is the sigma showing the zoom as a film camera?
Would I be getting a bigger zoom with the sigma?
What about the APO DG on the sigma, what is that going to do for me?
This same sigma without the APO is about $80 cheaper?
Thanks for the input..

Any input would be great.
Even if you don't own eather one, based on what you do know about zoom lens what lens would you buy?
Edited to add: I would be using this lens outdoor for soccer and baseball shots along with shots at the zoo.
Would really love something more down in the 2.? range, but a little out of my price range for now. :)

OK, on this range of glass they are going to be about the same quality, I have the sigma lense for my Canon and it is very nice, just remember at 300 mm you want a fast shuttre or a tripod.
Also that camer has a sensor crop of 1.6 I think so multiply the 70mm-300mm by 1.6 to see the approx crop factor in comarison to a full sensor or 35mm film. The image is not actually magnified more just cropped giving the same apperance as say at 70mm of being a 112mm lense. |

Is the pentax lens the same for the 1.6 crop? |

Just multiply whatever the focal length is by 1.6...meaning the 55-200 is 35mm equivalent to 88-320.
