The system we have in out place in Japan is gas; there's a control panel on the kitchen wall. When we moved in, the gas guy said to save money, turn off the pilot gas during the night and when you're not using it. And when the bath is running and you remmeber to press the call button (;-o), there will be a beep-beep-beep when the preset amount of water has flowed through.
