Very cool. I recognize many of the names in that list. How long until all 94 are here? :) A nicely written forward by Kiwiness, too.

I think I should join ljosmyndakeppni.is. Think of all the time I could save in the forums over there.

The postage is almost as much as the book :-( There is obviously something in the water over there :-)

It costs alot to send pakage that is 1 kg overseas.

But instead the book is priced lower - in local online store it costs $55 indsted of $42 to make up for the expensive postal service. The shipping and handling gets cheaper if you buy more than one.

The book is expensive since only 1042 books where printed. It cost alot to setup the printing machines. Think it took them 10-15min each section after they set it up to print a 1000 copies.

You should join because pictures with image grain can win the Gold! But even there, a 7+ score looks to be rare.

Looks like a cool book, loved the forewords.

Thanks.
Well about grain and Iceland - due to short days and litle sunlight over the winter most pictures have grain due to high iso settings, so we love grain in winter pictures.
However in the summer time we have sun all night long and thats why we hate grain in summertime pictures.

I just got 3 copies of the Lightyear book sent from Siggi and I have to say they are well worth buying. The quality of the photography is amazing. The book is well set out, the paper quality is excellent and it is definitely something to include in your photography book collection.

Siggi, all I can say is "Respect"!

I don't understand: "amateur photographers"???
where is the border between amateur and professional?
the photo on the front page is awesome! I can't believe someone who only takes a cam on weekends can take that photo.
:)

I think its like this:
Amature is when you do it as a hobby.
The other is when you do it for a living.

But in Iceland you have to be educated as a photographer to work as a photographer so it's quite clear who are amature and who are not.
But I think the laws about this need to be changed in Iceland since alot have changed since the digital camera got popular and no need for film and chemicals any more.

Kiwiness:
I'm glad you liked the book. We have done our best to make the book as grand as possible. It's all done in our spare time.

If you are still intrested in buying the book you will get a copy of the Lightyear 2005 for free until 17th of Feburary with your copy of Lightyear 2006.
(Or until I run out of stock, about 30 copies or so left of Lightyear 2005)

Total price $71 with shipping.

(Sipping is cheaper per copy if you order more than one copy)
