Dan, good bye and good luck!

Don't take life so seriously, you won't survive it anyway.

I have noticed that it is quite easy to build up a large amount of antagonism in what would otherwise be a minor disagreement, depending upon how the two partied handle it.

It seems to me that the solution is very simple. If you are respectful to those whom you communicate with, the majority of problems are diffused before they explode (as demonstrated by this thread). Almost all interpersonal problems can be averted by respect, and this is one of them.

DanSig- You are an excellent photographer (certianly better than I am). Just like the majority of those on this site, you have improved tremendously, and at least some of that is probably due to the community here. The images that you present here are appreciated by the rest of DPC, and I would hate to see anyone who is passionate about photography feel pushed away. I hope that you reconsider.

everyone else- Please be respectful. It is natural and immediate to respond to a blow with a blow, an insult with an insult. I sincerely hope that we can be better than that.

I don't know you, i've seen some of your photo's and they were really good.
However, regarding this thread, if you want to leave, then leave.
There is no need to be disrespectful and basically childish.
Why is there a need for a thread in the first place?

:)

I've been starting to wonder. There's been articles recently about the amount of time people spend on their favorite web sites, and how people feel such loyalty to them and the thing they contribute to them.

Many people contribute probably far too much of their personal time to this site. I'm a weird one, because I spend most of my time here during down-time at work (which varies a LOT depending on the day).

I've not been here long, but I've seen made and broken loves, huge egos, psychotic behavior, friends made, marraiges almost broken, careers won and dreams dashed. All of this based off of a website. If you take a step back it's insanity.

I think that's why you see many of the people who are doing really well in their own photography business fade out of DPC eventually, sometimes DPC simply doesn't mesh with their style of work, and to continue what they love they have to discontinue trying to make their stuff fit here. Others have a perfect time balancing the two. Others only enter and never participate in the "community", which I can understand. I started in the forums because I liked learning and helping others learn, now I'm just here because that's what I do. :/

If the GDP per capita of Iceland is $35,700 (2005 est.)*, where are Icelanders getting the money to buy those million dollar apartments and luxury cars?

please don't start that again. there's no justifiable reason to restart this argument.

According to Wikipedia the current estimate is $55,200 - Comparable to almost all EUR countries and the US. :)

Nope and to be honest, there should have been only one post in the thread.

Actually, there shouldn't have been any. You cannot "quit" DPC by demanding so in a forum thread. That (quitting) requires you to contact SC which is quiet and behind the scenes.

good luck with yourself man. hopefully you can learn (and no disrespect meant by this) to not take things so seriously, and quit thinking you have to be on the defense all the time.

keep taking pics man. maybe we'll see you back :D

Back to the topic please.

Dan has a point about SC and I have stated this many times before. I'm not suggesting I was right or I agree with Dan but perhaps finding a middle ground to a problem like this would be more benificial such as 24hr suspension to all parties involved just to let the dust settle and give the parties time to cool down.

remember the internet is not just for porn, the internet is not just for porn, the internet is not just for porn... or so "they" say.

SC wasn't given the opportunity to mediate a solution, Dan got angry and demaned to quit. Noone asked anyone to leave.

Maybe I'm in the minority but he was called a liar which seems like a personal attack to me yet the post remains. Why not just remove both posts and be consistent with the terms of the TOS? I'm not trying to stick up for Dan as I don't believe what he said either about Iceland but I think he has the right to say it or at least reply when being called out like that. Anyway, just my opinion.

So far, he actually hasn't demanded to quit. We have no ticket from him requesting removal of his account.

He also hasn't taken me up on the offer to clarify why his post was removed.

I don't see it, which probably means that you selected "DPChallenge - Administrative Inquiry," instead the of "DPChallenge - General Inquiry" I suggested. Only Drew and Langdon can see Administrative Inquiries.

At your preference, you're welcome to resubmit, or to wait until Langdon has a chance to respond to or move the ticket.

Given how far removed Dan's statements were from reality as presented by any verifiable source, it's marginal, but I went ahead and removed that sentence from the post in question.

But they shouldn't be hiding or deleting any post IMO and IF they have to then it should be blanketed to all parties involved. By implimenting a 24hr suspension IF needed and removing all related posts to the insulting post would let thing settle down and would probably result in less personal attacks. I'm not saying that this is the best course of action or that I agree with it just seems that something else could be done to settle matters quicker.

What Yanko said. It would be better IMO to delete Magnus_i's post as well. It might not exactly be a personal attack, but it *is* aggressive in tone.
