sometimes nothing will help. i had a shoot where one child was lovely, the gran and parents were sweet, and the boy was feral. i tried everything - offered to do his pic in the woods, with his gun (???), tried to be accomodating, yet not condescending. the whole nine yards. the adults were desperate to get a shot of (at?) him, and horrendously embarrased. so i clicked a candid of him as he broke down his pellet gun. he spat at me.

needless to say, we didn't get one of him, and i think he got a hiding.

o well. sometimes it just doesn't work.

the family was thrilled with the rest of the pics, though , and placed a pretty good order...

In general, you can pull 20 min per year for age of attention span.

I want to shoot the kids you meet...LOL I'd be in heaven if my 3 year old would tolerate my camera for 60 minutes!

Ahhh, no thats part typo! 10 min. per year BUT thats PLAYING and rolling on the floor with them and not posing. Think 1 minute if your trying to pose them. :) Or maybe its just that I have as short an attention span as they do...

if you get your timing right you get great shots, also if the kid or kids love their photos being taken you can get some cute or adorable shots.... playing around with the kids also helps, helps if you are a big kid too and if you love kids that also is going to help.

If I know I am going to have my niece over I leave my camera around my neck she is always doing something for a great picture...

lol I cant forget this spiderman I photographed
