The Free Study challenge has always raised a couple questions for me.
What are the rules that apply? Advanced Rules with no exceptions?
The reason I ask, I guess, is because of things like the HDR which was done this month. Are HDR images (using the 'traditional' 3-image method) valid for Free Study?
(Complete side-note: Having a 24-hour challenge for HDR *sucked* for those of us who weren't already intimately familiar with the technique. That seriously warrants a 7 day challenge.) |

Unless there's a little and special rules noted, the rules are Advanced with no exceptions.
(So no 3 image HDRs.)

The same image with multiple exposure versions (i.e. +1, even, -1) is acceptable under advanced rules - but combining multiple images (shutter actuations) is not. |

...but you can make 3 (or more) conversions from the same raw file and use them I believe. Not "true" HDR, but it will work...
Edit: (someone was faster than me)

Before all this HDR and Tone Mapping stuff started becoming common, it was already legal to process a single exposure in more than one way and sandwich the versions in an image editor with different layer modes. This is how we do contrast masking, for example...
