We're buying our Christmas gifts for the next 30 years all at once.

A new house (cross your fingers and wish us luck). We've been rearranging our finances and saving for the past 3 years to do this.

We put the offer in this morning.

We've also been getting our buisness off the ground- the house is kind of a key element as we desperatly need storage and work space. If all goes well my birthday gift will be quitting my job.

Thats cold.

I did tell my wife on her 40th birthday that I would never trade her in for a younger model...She's like having two 20 year olds. She then said- "Are you saying I am getting fat?"

Yeah, got one of those myself a month ago. It's a screamer! Using RSP, I can be going through and picking out the raw pictures I want to convert, and as I'm picking them out, and applying the changes and starting the process on each one, by the time I get done ... the convert is only a minute or two behind me. WOOHOO! It's like "free time".

8 seconds to convert a 20D RAW file to 8bit TIFF!!!! can't believe the time saved over my old MP2400 system!

haven't tried a 16bit TIFF yet - but can't believe its going to be much longer than 12 seconds..

i'm going to probably overclock to 3GHz as the 6600 can easily do that on the stock heatsink and fan! :D

OOOOH!!!! You lucky Pug, you! :-)

Down here in fixed-income-bachelor-retirement-land, there's not a lot of self-gifting going on. I usually manage to splurge on a really, really nice piece of prime beef and cook myself a minor feast, and that makes me happy. What can I say? I'm easy...

I've been a single parent for 15 years and though my kids always manage to get me some wonderfully thoughtful gift like a magnetic bookmark or a "Best Mom" t-shirt, I usually tuck one special gift under the tree from me to me... for being a patient mom all year. Not sure what I'll get this year, the kids come first of course and at 17 & 14, they need/want so much. I have a wish list though.... but this year I think the family will get a new television for the family room. That will make me and them happy.

I am handing in my resignation!!! I will be doing books for our (hubby and I) new company, picking my photography back up again and hopefully headed to a much less stressed life!!! Best Christmas gift I could have ever gotten!

Considering that some members of this household like to spend money like drunken sailors... I am hoping to get.... OUT OF DEBT :0)

Now, THAT's a gift! Good luck to you both! I've worked for myself most of my life, but I have interspersed stints of working for others, and there's no question which I preferred...

Congrats, mystopia. I'm a 20 yr self-employed type, and despite the high wire act, still prefer it.

My b'day is Sat, I semi-rescued a coon hound. For Xmas, well, I spent a bundle on him so far, and still need to buy chain link to turn the 4th horse pen into his house for when I'm away. Guess I could count that 70-200 f4L backup lens as a gift to self.
