Absolutely nothing.
This is the first year in memory that I can really say that I do not desire anything for Xmas. I could skip the whole holiday season outright this year, no problem.
Maybe some more sack time with my wife since I've been on the road a lot with the new job.
I may get something to keep me entertained on the road, like a new laptop or a PSP. The laptops from work are so heavily managed that you can hardly do anything with them outside of work-related duties.
Any suggestions for a decently priced laptop that would allow me to play some games and whatnot?

Well what I'm thinking right now... is somehow (probably won't happen), get the cash to get one of these.
This would require me to sell a lot of my posessions like my 1D and lens baby, and maybe a bass, and bass amp. Probably have to get a job over winter too just to make up the difference. |

I just booked a cruise to Mexico for Valentine's Day week. That too takes care of Christmas and Valentine's budget, and any miscellaneous things for ourselves we thought we might buy.

My Alien Bees shipment arrived yesterday!
I already have two AB800's with stands, umbrellas, and brolley boxes.
For Christmas, I added:
AB400
Background stand
Background diffuser/reflector
Set of four honeycomb grids
Two air cushioned HD stands with casters
One boom with counterweight
One beauty dish with diffuser
One giant soft box
One giant octabox
One radio transmitter
Three radio receivers
On a higher scale, I put in notice to quit my job as a Project Manager at Intel and my last day is December 22, 2006.
Tracy and I are opening a 2000 sq ft coffee shop with integrated photo studio in Colorado Springs. That is our true Christmas present this year!! We should be open by mid February...

Tokyo Electron would not allow employees to use their work laptops for non-work related activities, but the field service engineers were always on the road and living out of Mariott Suites. They bought a second hard drive and would just switch hard drives after work if they wanted to surf or play games at the hotel. It required a second copy of Windows XP, but Windows and a HDD was much cheaper easier than lugging around a second laptop...

Wow,
I got myself a 50 inch DLP TV, a new bedroom suit and a new living room suit. I'm going to get a camera/laptop backpack probably this weekend. And I'm also going to get myself a RF remote for the 10D.

I bought my self a new house here in Alaska, a new Bosch dishwasher to be installed Dec 5th, and new carpeting in the living room.
No funds left at this time for camera gear.
edited to say I am jealous of Matt as that was what I had thought about buying myself and still hope to in the not too distant future

Oliebollen.
When I were to get myself any gear I'd get it in januari when all that stuff is discounted because they want to get rid of old stock. Or in April to get the latest new goodies (which make december gear look old). Also on Dec 30 and 31 you can usually get huge discounts from the camera store to the place you buy your socks.

We already bought new camera gears this year for myself, my wife and our kid.
For Xmas, yesterday we just bought for the familly a new 1080p 42" LCD television, a huge stand for it and a XBox 360.
So tonight we'll be watching a movie on that new TV and play some games. |
