I have just gotten my new EF 70-200mm F/4L IS USM, first L glass that I ever owned.

As it is the newly released IS version of an existing lens, it is not in the hardware list on DPC.

How to add it, or where to request it?

third or fourth item in the list. :)

congrats on the new glass!

no prob. be sure to get a challenge photo with your lens entered right away so you can "OWN" your lens. ;-)

Lol, got my copy of this lens yesterday.. stuck in work all day yesterday and today, probably wont get a chance to put it through its paces until the weekend.
I have toyed around with it at home and can say the 4-stop IS really does work as advertised.. I am shakey-bill at the best of times, but a 1/20 speed shot I took in very low light was tack sharp.

I was going for the 2.8 IS, but the price is far too high in the UK, also it gives me a bit of money left over for when I get my 17-40 in the new year.

the usual bad spelling and grammar.

Congrats on the new toy guys. I'm disappointed that Canon tacked $690 on that lens for IS. Anybody care to venture a guess why so much? You'd think they would at least throw in the tripod collar for that much extra cash. Plus on the 5D FF sensor it's not that long of a lens. I'm betting it won't be long before you're looking for something longer like I am. I bought a 2x extender for my 70-200 just to see how I like that before I shell out $1100 for the 300mm F/4 L prime.

You beat me, Mark, but, my lucky number is two, so ... that's ok with me. Did some shots this evening, still on a learning curve, but will post some shots when I get better at it. Nothing wrong with the lens, I just have to get up to level, too.

Reminding myself once again not to shoot in 1600, not worth it.

For the 2.8 version one of the differences is six extra lens elements extra for the IS version.

I have a lens that has IS, and I'm really not all that impressed. Maybe I was expecting too much?

All right, here are some pics for you:

70-200mm f/4 IS usm

BUT, I will say, with my level of expertise, or lack of, it is not fair to judge this glass by these pics only. Especially not when you don't have the settings here, some are quite slow like 1/4, 1/8 exposure time. Will update that later, or is it in the EXIF if you download the pics?

Anyway, good night from here ...
