Im looking for a windows based player that will actually allow you to sing and hear your voice over the speakers (not just record), anyone know of such a beast?

I don't have a Microphone right now to test it, but I think if you go into the Voulme Control Panel (Volume by the clock). Click Option Properties hti the Playback Radio button and make sure the Mic is checked) , Click OK. You should be able to hear your mike through your speakers.

Then you should be able to use the microphone slider to adjust the voulme. Then just play music through Windows Media Player.

If you want to get right into it, you'll want the right sound card (like an Audigy 2 ZS by Creative).
They come with a system mixer that lets you decide the various levels of input and output, as well as a whole bunch of special effects.

Once you have that, you'll just need any old player like Windows media player to shadow sing (i.e. sing along to the full sound track) or to sing to backup music without the vocals (the much better option).
If you want to use CDGs (i.e. "real" Karaoke tracks complete with lyrics), then you'll need a special player.

If you want to find other people to sing with/for/at, try www.paltalk.com. There are a number of Karaoke rooms available there.
