So is flip horizontal a distortion?
Can it be used in basic edits?

I sure hope so.

I would say, yeah, it's legal. You are affecting all pixels equally.

It's legal. It does not change the distance between pixels (distortion) only the direction. Following operations are all legal in Basic:
- Flip Horizontal
- Flip Vertical
- Rotation (90, 180, 270, or any arbitrary amount)
- Any combination of the above

I was just confirming, though now I look at it I like my entry the original way round ;-)
