Just a suggestion... how about eliminating the voting trolls at both ends of the voting spectrum by ignoring the highest and lowest(say) 10% of votes so that the voting stats are based on the middle 80%.
This would clip off the 'extreme' voters and give a more typical average.

Would need careful consideration on the implementation but it could be as simple as, eg if a work receives 73 votes ignore the highest and lowest 7 votes (7.3 rounded)and calculate the total on the middle 59 votes.

Of course if the Low Voting Trolls balance out the High Voting Trolls (as they probably do) there wouldn't be any significant change to the overall voting stats - but somehow it just feels more wholesome to have the trolls removed.

So if I don't personally like an image and vote it the way my heart tells me, my vote don't count for anything?

Nope - your vote counts towards decreasing / increasing the average even if it is 'eliminated' because it will still affect the mean average - it just lessens the impact of a small number of people voting excessively low (or high) on a given work.
