Just kinda wanted to rant, saying that ive had several negative feedbacks and scores because my picture is too "over exposed" and "lighting is off". Wasnt the name of this challenge "lighting"? Why would I have my picture in "normal" lighting? The affect is on purpose but ppl dont seem to put 2 and 2 together. Is this just me?

I did the same thing on my Urban Landscape picture. Got the same types of comments. When I first got here I gave out the same comments and now that I've been here for a little while I know better.

I figure a lot of postcard types shots so I decided to be different and try something that no one else who try. I applaud you for trying something different. Most of the shots used shadows and had them lit, you just did it in reverse.

We can't post a shot until the voting is over.

Ya, looks like most of hte pics are going for the shadow affect. Those should be saved for the "shadows" challenge. Oh well, looks like ill have to try for the more "post card safe" pictures.. :/

Read the name of the challenge before you post ppl

I don't know if I've gotten to your photo yet, I'm commenting on each one I vote on and I've only done 22. (I think this is going to take forever.)

But..

I go by both the title and the details when voting, so perhaps people are not seeing the mood you are trying to create with the lighting you used. I didn't see anything specifying 'abnormal' or 'normal' light usage, so it could be simply not connecting with those particular viewers.

My lighting image doesn't seem to be saying/portraying what I hoped it would effectively either. Maybe next time!

As far as the light vs. shadows issue - typically with one comes the other, though I do agree there are some where the shadows seem to be more prevalent. Seems a thin line to walk in some cases.

i didnt enter this challenge because i didnt have the internet the last week at home. but lighting is the most important aspect of photography.

and i think that the lighting/making the mood of the photo part
should have been the focus of the entries. i wouldnt have scored shadow entries to well. but dont vote when i dont enter...
