I am wanting to apply the equalization filter to a photo I have taken for a challenge, but I am not sure it is legal.

Im not sure as I only ever use the few that are listed as OK but I think that as long as it is applied to the full image you may be alright !
Wait to see what others think also though ? |

Your terminology made this more difficult to answer.
At least in Photoshop, Equalize is found under Adjustments, not under Filters. Since Levels, Curves, Channel Mixer and the like are also found under Adjustments, I'd have to guess that Equalize is legal as long as it is applied to the entire image at once. One disadvantage (in older versions at least) is that it can't be applied to an Adjustment Layer, and so provides less control and "undo" capability.
I'll be curious to see under what circumstances you found this a desirable effect .... |

I used Equalization on this image a long time ago. It really REALLY gave it the look it needed for the purpose. I had asked Drew before submitting this image to the challenge, and he said that it was in fact legal.

OK I have a question on this sort of matter now actually !
Firstly Is there a limit to the ammount of times I can do one of the allowed adjustments ?
Secondly, I was wanting to use the Selective Colour tool in Adjustments to remove all teh black and change it to white. Is this one allowed ( I am thinking so as it is doing it to all teh black in teh image ) ?
Just really want clarification on this etc...
Perhaps it would be a great idea to have a piece in the sites FAQ to state exactly what usages of tools are allowed in which of the main art packages out there ! Just a wee thought anyhow !
Thanks in advace for any replies too :0) |
