I tried to put together a shot for the Lighting challenge, and it did not work the way I wanted it to, at least, not within the editing rules. We had a busy day and I wrote off this challenge. My wife encouraged me to try to get one in after we got home last night. I only had 15 minutes to get a shot, download, edit, and submit. I missed by about 90 seconds! Anyway, what would you have voted this one?

Cool self portrait, but I wonder how this would look in B&W?

JD nice portrait I like it in color & B&W. B&W seems to have more punch.

I think it would have been better if you blacked out your shoulders.

I'am curious about one thing?

Why did you crop off the chin and forhead rather than doimg a vertical crop or shot?

I prefer the B&W portrait... I think it is a good picture and a great idea...

Here it is with the Tshirt blacked out. Great suggestion, Calvus! This shot is pretty much out of the camera, I cropped a little off the left, but not the top or bottom. I wanted to try to capture some intensity in the eyes, rather than do a full head style portrait.

I can understand that.
I think the shot looks a lot better. More punch.
If you really wanted to make it spooky beyond DPC rules you could quick mask the eyes, adjust the contrast and really make them stand out.

Nice work.

I like both, but the B&W is more appealing to me. On the subject of framing - I've been noticing more and more images both in photos and film (as in motion picture movies etc) that crop out the top or bottom of the face - the framing emphasizes the eyes or facial expression. So I say this is great - really places impact on the eyes. Nice.

Creepy? Get an image of a plasma sphere and use it for the pupils!!!
