Okay...I feel like a living breathing creature again after a week without my PC! We had a transformer blow up VERY close to the house and well, it fried some things in the PC including parts of the Mother Board, Ethernet and Sound Card. It was not a pretty site and would not boot up. Fortunately, the PC repairman is a LONG TIME friend and was able to take very good care of my baby. He was able to recover ALL of my data, and installed PS CS2 to boot. My question for your...is what will I like most about CS2 over Elements. I have already enrolled in an online course, but I am eager to hear from those of you who have used it!
Thanks,
Julie |

I have PSE2 and never tried PS CS - but know that layer masks, selective color, curves and channel mixer are all available to Elements 1-3. I tried Elements 4 but it was really laggy and these plugins were not available. THere are a couple of things in CS that I have heard of that sound great - but not at the price tag that comes along with it. I recommend PSE2 to my friends who are just getting into PS. I love it and it works great for me.

Like Tim, I do MOST of my work in Elements. I've used CS2 from time to time but find that everything I could possibly need within reason is available in Elements.
I think the important thing is to learn the basics and expand from there. If you can master Elements and all the options available, then it's an easier transition to the more in depth programs... and believe me, mastering Elements is no simple feat. For a beginneer, I'd avoid the powerhouse editing programs like the plague. Why make an already daunting and confusing process even harder? :) |

I never used elements I started with CS2 from the beggining, but I know people who use elements and I've suggested they do/use some simple things from cs2 only to have them say they don't have it or know how to do it if they do so I tend to beleive CS2 is more user friendly. but I don't speak from experience. I find nothing about CS2 to be confusing or daunting.
