I'm going to be shooting an elementary school basketball game this afternoon. Any tips on what I should use? Flash, no flash? ISO, lens, speed, etc.

Thanks

If I were you I'd shoot at 1600 due to your lenses not being real fast. If you can use flash I would recommend it. Shoot in shutter priority mode to get the fastest shutter speed possible. Set your white balance to floresent and then give it a little color boost and you should be fine. Try not to shoot under 250th if at all possible. Good luck.

I suggest panning, shoot from different levels- on the floor, up high, and move around the bench and behind the boards if you can. Good luck and post your shots if you can.

Before the game starts....ask the head ref if you are allowed to use a flash.

you'll have to set the flash to high speed sync if you're going to shoot over 1/200th. this will force you to be more careful with your exposures. high speed sync is mainly used when the available light is strong enough not to need the flash, but the directional light is causing unwanted shadows.. ie: shadow under a hat brim for instance.
