Ok so this week I shot for HDR and B&W challenge, only to realize that with my new camera I had set the date and time. But then when I did a total reset on it and changed the backup battery(its a new to me but used camera) that I needed to reset the clock and date. So neither of my entries could actually be used due to date infractions. So since I rarely vote or comment I decided to take on a new challenge for myself. I decided to vote and comment on 100% of the HDR entries. Anyone else up for it in this challenge? I have voted all of them and currently commented on more then 30%. I will finish my comments on the rest this week when time permits. Hopefully my comments will come to me easier on photos that I can find alot of fault in. Its tough to comment on ones that just dont say much to me, or that I feel just dont meet the challenge, but I'm going to try.

I was contemplating doing this for Black and White, as it's my favourite type of photography, howver, i then saw this bit;

Well I generally dont like to comment on photos that I score low for a couple of reasons. One is I feel that most people dont want an honest critique on shots I feel are poor, or that just dont meet the challenge. I used to worry that I would hurt someones feelings. However lately the commenting on challenges just is nearly non-existent. Very few comments made at all. So I'm going to try and pick one challenge a week and do this.

| I'd try doing HDR because there's only a few, but I expect that there will be some that I just can't comment on. Plus my eyes will go funny from all the Acid trip images. ;) |

I've found that for the few that don't appreciate comments that may not be of the all rosy and feel good nature, that MANY others out there DO appreciate getting them. I get a handful of PM's (sometimes during - usually after the challenge) from people that say something like "Thanks, I wondered what people were thinking. My score wasn't that great and nobody said anything to criticize/critique it".
I usually try to say what I think or feel about an image, and as long as it's politely stated, most are appreciative.
The scary part for me is that some people might actually think my comments are worth something and then I've REALLY screwed them up! :D
As for commenting on the HDR challenge, go for it! Sounds like a fun adventure. :) |
