My old one that is. With my daughter taking a stronger and stronger interest in photography I would love to give her my old Olympus D-340R. I had won it about 3 years ago in a promotion and it has taken many, many shots for me. One day it got dropped and the door popped off. I could snap it back on but it wouldn't operate the on-off switch anymore so to turn it on you had to pop the door off, turn it on, pop the door back on, take your shots and then close it, and it would turn off. I had taken it back to the shop where I got it from and they told me the cost would be about the same as if I just bought a new camera. So I put it away and bought my new camera, my D-380. I am willing to ship it somewhere if the price is right to get it fixed.

If not able to fix this, is there a inexpensive digital camera out there can take semi-decent shots. I don't want to spend a couple of hundred dollars just yet because this is the daughter who gets very excited about something and then a month later she's over it. But photography seems to be holding her interest so far, she's been borrowing my camera and sneaking my camera every chance she gets. ANy ideas, help, know where I can get a decent camera for around $100?

Thanks

it may not be worth the money to have it fixed, it would probablly be cheaper to just buy a new one...

I did a quick search at best buy and they have a few cameras under the $150 mark.

I did a search at DPreview in the buying guide but didnt come back with anything under $200.

you may want to try

For a digital camera, I think 200 is fairly cheap. In the 200 range, you have the fuji a303, which is a nice point and shoot (3 MP), but I don't think there is much under 200 that is decent.

I see that now and if I go with a higher MP then I get a new camera and she gets my old one that I use now, the Olympus D-380, which actually might be the route to go since she's familier with this one already and I can show her how to adjust the light, flash/no flash and such.

I just want to find her a nice hobby that she's excited about, I think this is it
