I was about to order a hyperdrive HD80 compact flash portable storage device a couple days ago and I found their website ordering system down for "upgrading". I emailed them and heard back two days later that they were about to release an HD80 replacement called the SPACE.
Does anyone know anything about this? Ever heard of it?

hm. i dunno. i do know that the HD that came in my HD80 died after about, oh, 16 hours. just long enough for me to get on a plane to a foreign country.
you try buying a laptop HD from a guy who only speaks estonian. it's fun. :P
it's worked like a champ since then, though. |

Hey muckpond, I missed this response, weird. Anyway, I am just ordered a new SPACE. I believe this is the first day they are available. Check it out if interested here.
I will post a review of my impressions if there is any interest. But the specs look awesome. 100GB of transfer battery life before a recharge is required! 1 GB in under a minute. Hope it lives up to its billing. |

| Looks like a great upgrade - appears to be a lot faster. I have had my HD80 for a couple of months and it's pretty useful. Took it for 6 weeks in Australia and it never missed a beat - copied mine and several family members cards of various types. The only complaint is that the transfer speed to the computer is just pathetic - nothing like the advertised speed (appears to be usb1.1 type speed). The speed from the card to box is okay - fast enough to not cause an issue for me. |
