ARGHH.. and yes I'm screaming!
I've just spent two days trying to get my images in a printable form.
I've finally got a basic understanding and working relationship with the aspect ratios.
Now my problem is... it all looks like....well this being a polite forum, I won't say what.
The images that come out of my camera, are in jpg (I haven't been using RAW because I can't get very many of them on a card) and I can't afford any more cards at the moment. The size is either 2272x1704 or 1600x1200.
The former when I'm shooting here in the studio the latter when I'm out somewhere.
The dpi is only 180 at the superfine setting.
Am I missing something, some setting somewhere that I can use to boost this?
Or am I stuck with 8x10 prints (or that range).. which is not the answer I want to hear!
I've tried the tutorials and it still looks lousy.
I've loaded a few, and want to stop annoying Langdon and company by sending up any more for rejection.
OH help me Pahleeeeeeze! |

At your larger resolution, you can get to about 15.1 inches without resampling and at the DPC-P minimum of 150 dpi. If the image is no good at this size, it is not a file-size issue.
If you want to go larger, it's probably best to follow the incremental upsizing technique described in the tutorial. If that's not working well enough for you (quality will depend on the original image subject matter), it's better to sacrifice size and just go with the swmaller print sizes. If you plan to sell prints for income, you'd probably best go for a camera with a larger sensor or invest in specific software for this issue (such as mentioned in this thread.) |

Thanks,
I forgot about that thread. I'm downloading stuff to try as I write.
The images are good. Sharp, clear. It's when I'm trying to them at a size that I consider saleable that they're getting funky.
I'm assuming it's operator error at this point.
Appreciate the info. |

Ok,
SO I'm trying out the one from Extensis,,px smartscale.
When slowly increase in size, resampling as I go. It looks fine at "view print size" in photoshop... When I look at "actual pixels" it's completely chunky.
So,, I'm assuming even though it looks good at print size, it's still no good?
I'm sooo frustrated. |

You have to learn how to use photo software, get some book for dummies at bookstore or find online manual for photoshop or PSP8 about resizing and resampling photos,I can't help you over the internet you have to sit next to me and show you on the computer!

If you want, email me an original of one of the problem files and the final size you want. I'll send you back a re-sized Photoshop or TIFF file for you to compare with your results.
Also, what hardware and software are you using? |
