From the Down, Down, Down challenge, I think of those who were involved, I placed last in the group, not last in the challenge overall but in the group that was talking. So where do I send the coffee? :)

I gave you a 5 on that one, it was different but to me all you had to do was recrop it to make it better.
So, what area do you want to serve?

Tahiti, Fiji, Easter Island.
Thanks, most people didn't like the color effects I used, but I think I had good reasons ... here's the (reduced) original: and the entry:
How would you have cropped it? I rather liked submitting a vertical panorama for a "landscape challenge, and how I got relatively natural color in the foreground, a bright "painted" look in the midground, and almost a negative in the back. Hmmm ... somewhat describes how I feel about the subject matter as well.

If you don't mind and if you do, just tell me and I'll remove it, this is what I might have done with that shot: My version I cropped slightly different, went to grayscale and sharpened just a bit. You could even play with the brightness and contrast. You have some wonderful shots in your portfolio and I hope you aren't offended by my suggestions.

I prefer your entry one more because it was a different then most of the entries. I was a bit tired of the postcard pictures. I gave high scores to the postcard shots, but looked at the others a bit more and probably gave higher scores to the non-postcard type shoots at least in this challenge.
Left comments on picture.

I don't mind at all -- the whole reason I'm posting pictures here is to see what people think of how I handled it and how they'd do it differently -- that's why I posted the original too. It's not like you were gonna take that picture and make a hip-hop CD cover with it ... (actually you could; I've output film to print a lot of CD covers with lower-resolution photos that that!)
I think you did a better job than I was doing at creating some contrast between the Fed Blgs and the sky. But I don't think there was much in the original to generate the "wow factor" anyway, so I sort-of deliberately decided to go against the grain of what I expected most of the entries to be like, to at least try and be original, if not completely esthetically successful (thanks faidoi!).
I've always been pretty lousy at drawing and painting and such, so I frequently use electronic tools as a substitute for coordination (but hopefully not imagination).
