...to go back after voting and edit your votes a little?
ive had it a few times where i update my score, and it goes either up or down without the # of views or votes changing. i know that's possible, because ive edited my votes for a few people after i already voted for them, but do most people do this? maybe as a "second pass" through the entries?
i'm new to this, so i dont know much yet

yeah, its common. lots of people go through and kinda "bucket" scores... then go back and sort the buckets. I usually go back through at the end and adjust the top ones.

If I like a shot I'll give it a 7. Then I'll go back later and vote it higher if I reaaaaalllly like it. In fact, in the Free Study I've been making lots of comments like "I'll start you at 7" or "8 for now" because I might bump them higher later.

I do my voting in a 3-pass method. On the first pass, I vote 4-5-6 unless an image is extraordinarily good or bad. Second pass is usually the next day of voting and I'll bump things in the 5-6 range to 6-10. Usually don't bump down too often. Pass 3 is often the day voting ends. I've let the images stew a bit and go back and see if any stand out as needing scores adjusting.

I'm a "sorter" also, in 4,5,6 groups. I'll usually try to make my first pass of voting on ALL the images right after rollover, stay up a couple hours if need be. Then I go back and look more closely at the "6 group" and start seeding them up to 7, 8, 9, 10 as warranted. When I finish that, if I still have the energy I'll reexamine the 5's group, and some of those will get bumped at this time; it's not unusual for me to find a few in the 5's that upon reflection are 6's or 7's, very occasionally even higher.

I also do an initial pass then a re-look and bump. If you have a comment from me that you've marked helpful, then it appears again unmarked, that means you've just been bumped. I don't bump down. |
