April is a self-proclaimed BBW (big beautiful woman. My mission: help her look her best. Maximize her assets (eyes/breasts) and minimize distractions. Turns out to be a study in PoV.

Hey man, left a comment. Overall great job on shooting a difficult subject. Now let me explain that. Overweight people tend to be hard to shoot and get a pleasing photo that the subject likes. They tend to be more critical of their looks. You have done a wonderful job and should be proud of these shots. I'm sure your subject will love these if she hasn't seen them, and does love them if she has.

Thanks, she does love the shots I've shown her. There are some les than flattering shots of her that I took in the session, but she won't ever see them... LOL.

Took some experimenting with PoV to get angles I liked.

From a fat girl myself. I'd say overall FANTASTIC shots. I do think the first photo in row three is NOT a keeper though. very unflattering. the rest are stunning. maybe crop out the boobs in a few so she has something to send to her family. rofl..

I agree, I actually meant NOT to upload that pic, but since it's up it can be used for demonstration purposes. Mostly dealing with the double chin and bulging neck is a matter of tilting the head slightly back. The upward PoV i've chosen for most of the shots helps a lot dealing with that since she is always looking up.

Her family will just have to deal with the boobs. LOL...

Ohh, and thank you :-)

instead of tilting the head back, i just have overweight people lean forward while sitting, or even standing
i suppose it does the same thing though

Yeah, same thing. You are still having them lean the head back to compensate for the forward leaning body. Also, leaning forward changes the relationship of the head to the stomach causing the head to look more pronounced compared to the stomach.

With any portraits (or photos of any type) it's all about maximizing assets and minimizing distractions.
