Hey you guys seem to be doing pretty well with Dirt. Hopefully we don't face you guys in the first round of the playoffs. Oh and excuse my snooping around. :P

Yanko, always nice to see visitors on site, kind of fun to see a 3-way tie for 1st at half-time. And yes, ImageNation seems to have a teeny edge with that nice average.

Glad to see you're doing a little recruiting for WPL4; smyk has a fantastic average.

And a note to our own guys, (as if we needed it) there's a bit of information pasted onto the WPL website that reads:

Currently the WPL is constructing the WPL4 site and will announce the enrollment dates for individual photographers and teams. There will be room for a total of 24 teams and 168 photographers.
If you have any questions you can contact me at wpl@Knology.net.

Thanks,

SDW

May I assume that wants to play?

Damn right! I'm in.

Honestly, half of the challenges I've entered I probably wouldn't have if I weren't on the team...I'm so busy busy busy (aren't we all?) and being on the team, I know I can't skip a week...so it really pushes me to not be lazy with my photography :) !!!

It's 3:26 a.m. here in Idaho, and I'm about to go to bed. I just got done with a final project for a class...

I was just wondering what time it is for everyone else? I have a feeling some people might be just now getting up for the day, or else eating lunch or dinner...or working :)

GOODNIGHT!

Edit: Or, Good morning! Or afternoon! Whatever! (Sorry, I get wierd when I don't have enough sleep...)

It's 12:26 here in Denmark and I just finished lunch - I'm 9 hours ahead of you. :)

No need to stop a good thing. Besides, I contributed to the weekly score once! =)

Dudes and Dudettes ... My score has dropped quite a bit in dirt.
6.82
Anyone else care to share their current scores in live challenges?
12/12/2006 01:15:04 PM · #436
My dirt score has also dropped quite a bit. It's at a 6.26. And life is hanging on at about a 5.81. But I'm not complaining, both scores will most likely hit my top 4 scoring challenges. Life will be fourth when that gets over, then dirt will likely bump life down. That is, if my score don't plummet!

Yes - keep it optimitic! As a team we have stepped it up a notch and it's showing in our scores. This extra effort will make us contenders - if not a sleeper candidate for victory in WPL 3. perhaps it's almost time for us to start harassing out competition in their forums!!! :P

I dunno, Tate, maybe we should keep our halos on a little longer...
we are the new kids on the block.

My Dirt is doing okay but I'm really stuck on Sticky, so I'm still thinking; however my Shopping is in. (What an interesting sentence. Only here would it make sense.)

I agree with Alice - let's be different: Let's be the humble team :) (at least for now)

My "life is" at 5.8097 (Higher than I expected) and my "Dirt" at 5.7364 (Lower than I expected) - so none of them will make it to my frontpage it seems.

I'm in "Sale" - and I really, really like my picture here. (Probably just means than everybody else will hate it)

Pet Portrait looked pretty crowded, so I jumped in For Sale at the last minute. I don't expect it will do great, but I'm happy to have made it this week. My job has been extremely busy these past couple weeks. =P

Jeff, glad to have some company in For Sale. I have good feelings about this one. But then, I have good feelings about them all...

My "Death" is not going to break 5, but at least it won't get the brown, thank heavens. I have a cute story to tell when that Challenge closes.

The Challenge is closed so I guess it's time for my story: Colma, a town just south of San Francisco is known as the city of cemetaries as it has many of them, some containing the remains of famous folk. I really like the very old Italian one, with mausoleums with stained glass windows, and acres of granite, marble and other slabs of stone. I just happened to be dressed completely in black the day I went to visit this particular cemetary. I parked on a deserted road (except for a big construction type truck down the street) and stood by my car across from the entrance just trying to get bearings on how to approach the shoot. All of a sudden, I realized the construction truck had stopped right along side of me, and a big burly guy inside was waving for grandma to cross the deserted street. Well, I know I'm not the youngest kid on the block, but really! Anyhow, not to disappoint him, I tottered across the road, waving my thanks and hiding my camera bag.

I should have stayed with the marble slabs, as the take I finally went with gave me a 4.99.

I'm actually uploading the photos for the For Sale challenge as we speak....Damn, it was a fiasco...I'll explain after the voting :)

I'm not sure yet if the voters are going to like it or not....I guess we'll see!

CONGRATS Everyone ... we are ranked #1 in our division!!!!
I haven't read the WPL forum but it looks like since we are ranked #1, we go against the lowest seed - the Buzzards. Looking good so far with our scores to have another victory this week.

Most importantly, of course, is to look to next week (no resting on our laurels :) â€Â¦ so:

What is sticky all about? Positive? Negative? What do we think of when we think sticky??? Keep 'm as great as we've been in the past few weeks!

Pink Floyd? Don't hit a wall here!!!
Brown? Yeah right!!! More like BLUE!!!!

Use your ImageNation!!!!

Not much of an average. I think I've learned by now, that the pictures I like the most are the ones the majority here don't like at all. Now I just need to shoot pictures that I'm not crazy about myself - but will appeal to the majority here :)

Edited for typos

This is one of the things that has been discussed recently in the forums (probably for a while actually :) - the frustration when a photog submits something that would appeal greatly to a minority - it IS inherently the problem with the scoring system but as people have mentioned "know your audience". There is definitely a rough formula I think, for creating a top-twenty image? ... I've read great description by scalvert and some others.

As far as the team goes â€Â¦ I've been submitting the first photo to appeal to a possible high-score, the second one is more whatever I want to show people and whatever I like that week. It helps when the first image does well that week then the pressure is off.

Having said all that, the voters always like good clear images with focus and effort put in - so first and foremost, I aim for that.

This team has exceded expectations for me and I'm really impressed by how we have stepped up (ps: my pet image is a 4.6 right now :( .. no one likes my ............)
