When I picked up my 30D, I sold my 300D to my sister's boyfriend. Unfortunately, his first day of ownership ended with a pin being snapped off inside the CF Card slot. (OUCH)

So, I took it back and gave him back his money.

He asked to have it repaired and I looked into attempting to replace the broken pin myself, but failed. (Although I did come damn close.)

I found one website (that I won't mention right now), offering replacement parts for Canon Digital Rebel DSLRs. The price for the PCB was $275.

I was told to order it up and isntall it. So, I did.

The install went smooth, except the board is from the Canon KISS Camera. (The Japanese version of the Rebel.) It isn't functioning as it should, which could be simply a mismatch between the "English" speaking parts and the "Japanese" speaking PCB.

Anyone know if I can flash the PCB with the English version of the firmware and "fix" this issue?

...or am I SOL with this?

Their website and their shipper claims that there are no returns or refunds on parts. (Which is against the law in my state, as I understand it, which is also where their company is based.)

Anyone have any suggestions?
