If I were to want to remove the mild trailing of the stars in my Peering to Infinity shot...what are my options? Are there simple plugs ins for this? I thought there were, but I can't find the threads talking about it.

Ideas?

I can't imagine it would be easy. The problem is, on a shot like that the stars are blurred on an arc. Maybe Focus Magic could handle it?

Focus Magic does it just fine. The only thing is, you need to mask off the sky and do a 2-layer image, because the foreground is not motion-blurred and it will look oversharpened. I just did a quickie test, and 2 pixels blur at 33 degrees handles the stars just fine, but I don't have time to mask off the sky and revert the rest of the image right now.

I recall reading something about features like this being available on some of the more serious astro-imaging software - the stuff that only astro-imagers buy - but I can't find anything in a quick google search. The big package that many Windoze imagers use is Images Plus (read about it here). I searched the feature set and didn't see anything.

There is a plug-in called FocusMagic that will remove some minor directional blurring. Photoshop CS2's "Smart Sharpen" will also do it. Either one will only operate in one direction (no option for reducing tangetial blur).

I also tried Filter>Other>offset which worked, but caused some artifact.

Is there a trial version of FocusMagic?
